#89 Should have been elected to the HoF years ago. One of the best and most dominate players at his position ever. My biggest beef was the election of Raiders receiver Fred Biletnikoff getting in so fast. I don't know of this man could catch a ball without stick-um, but he's in, while Taylor is still waiting. Hoping this is his year with Bengals Kenny Anderson and Packers Sterling Sharpe joining him. Cleveland Browns Clay Mattews Jr better be next.

Otis Taylor should be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the following reasons:
1. He was a unanimous first team All-pro in 1971 and 1972 in the NFL.
2. He was the only player in the NFL to have over 1000 receiving yards in 1971.
3. He was the UPI AFC player of the year in 1971.
4. He made the First All-AFL team in 1966.
5. He made the Second All-AFL team in 1967.
6. He was a two time AFL champion.
7. He was a Super Bowl Champion (Super Bowl 4). and played in Super Bowl I.
8. He was the AFL championship MVP in 1969 and almost single handedly willed the Kansas Chiefs to their AFL championship victory over the Oakland Raiders.
9. His touchdown catch in Super Bowl 4 ended the Minnesota Vikings hope of coming back to beat the Chiefs.
10. Otis Taylor caught 410 passes for 7,306 yards and 57 touchdowns for a Kansas City Chief's team that was predominately a running team in an era of predominately running offensives.
11. When Otis Taylor retired, he ranked 20th in Pro Football history in terms of passes caught; 18th in career touchdown catches; 19th in career yardage gained and 18th in average gain per catch. In summary, Otis Taylor dominated not only the AFL, but after the AFL/NFL merger in 1970, he was the finest flanker in football. Otis Taylor played his best games during championship moments. His statistics compare favorably with Hall of Fame wide receivers of his era, to wit: Bob Hayes; Paul Warfield; Drew Pearson; Lynn Swann; and though contemporary wide receivers such as Lance Alworth; Charley Taylor and Don Maynard caught more passes for more yards, it must be recalled that they played predominately for passing teams and did not play for run first teams such as Hank Stram's Kansas City Chiefs. At six foot three inches, 215 pounds, Otis Taylor was a superb blocker and was the Terrell Owens of his era. Cornerbacks feared Otis Taylor throughout his career for his size; speed and route running ability. In 2021, most of the wide receivers in the career top top twenty in Pro Football history have been elected (or will soon be elected into Canton, Andre Reed at 951 catches and Art Monk at 940 catches are currently in Canton and are ranked 18th and 20th respectively in terms of career passes caught. No one who is familiar with pro football history can deny that Otis Taylor was certainly the equal, if not the superior, to both Reed and Monk. Consequently, Otis Taylor's career statistics should be measured in terms of his era - and not suffer the prejudice of 'presentism." Put Otis Taylor into the Pro Football Hall of Fame - along with Boyd Dowler and Del Shofner.
