As far as Jim's stats goes he was hurt by the fact he went to the USFL from 1983 to 1985 despite being drafted by Buffalo in the first round of the 1983 draft.

Even if Jim started he professional football career in the NFL instead of the UFL, getting the stats of Eli Manning was out of the question. From 1983 to 1993, only 10 times a Quarterback thrown 30 or more touchdown passes in a season including 2 times in 1984 and 2 times in 1990. From 1994 to end Jim Kelly's final season, 8 times a QB passed more than 30 touchdowns in a season. Basically only 18 times a QB thrown for more than 30 touchdown passes a season from 1983 to 1996.

From 2004 to end of Eli last season of the NFL, qbs thrown for 30 or more touchdown passes 78 times. What makes the QB stat worse for Eli's case for the Hall of Fame due to better stats is 11 QBs thrown for 30 or more touchdowns in 2015. Also from 2007 to 2019, the lowest amount of QBS throwing 30 or more touchdowns in a season was 3 and that only happened in 2008 and 2017.

During Jim Kelly's era, Only 3 QBS thrown for 30 or more touchdown passes in a season 1994 and again in 1995. This shows some proof why I said Jim Kelly's stats shouldn't be compared to Eli Manning. The amount of QBS throwing 30 or more touchdown passes in a season shows how much the league changed from Jim's era to Eli Manning's era.

Jim Kelly's stats doesn't mean Eli Manning should've been a first ballot since Jim got inducted first ballot. A lot of people including myself don't belief QBS from 1 era should be compared to another era in terms of stats. The reason is because the game actually changes from one era to another due to schemes, and NFL rules.

Jim Kelly at times in his career was a top 5 QB in his era and I believe Eli never was a top 5 QB in his era. Also Jim was a 1st team all pro once and got league MVP votes in 1990 and 1991.Eli never was an all pro team and never got league MVP votes in his NFL career.

The fact is Eli Manning in his era was inconsistent during the regular season. The only reason Eli is brought up for Hall of Fame is his two Super Bowls rings and MVPS. Eli was clutch, but acting like Eli had no help in the Super Bowl is false. The Giants in their 2 Super Bowl wins over the Patriots only gave up a combined 31 points.

Jim got inducted first ballot was due to taking the Bills to 4 straight super bowls. Jim had a huge part in that due to the nature of the no huddle offense. The Bills were the only team during the super bowl era that went to the super bowl 4 straight years.

jim kelly with no zip league mvp or offensive player of the year nor super bowls or SB MVPs on his resume was voted first-ballot and yet eli manning who won two rings and mvps for the super bowl with more career passing yards, completions,td oasses and attempts and 300 pass yard games doesn't i mean what gives!!!!!
