There should definitely be more kickers in the HoF, but Akers wouldn't be on my list of snubs. Look at his Field Goal %: only 4 years in the Top 10. Maybe we need more data on how he delivered in higher leverage situations, but right now it looks like his numbers were more the product of usage patterns than what he brought to the field. I'm glad he had the impact he did on his fans and teams, though.

Kickers I would be more inclined to support would include Gary Anderson, Jim Bakken, John Carney, Don Cockroft, Fred Cox, Jason Elam, Jason Hanson, Norm Johnson, John Kasay, Nick Lowery, Eddie Murray, Matt Stover, Justin Tucker, Jim Turner, Adam Vinatieri, and Garo Yepremian. Get all those guys in, and maybe we can talk more about what Akers brought to the table.

Kickers never get the respect or recognition they deserve. David Akers was the first jersey I ever owned. Without that man we would never have made it to Jacksonville. He was always clutch. He won countless games for the period that brought that team to a Super Bowl. Kickers need to be recognized! His heart and soul was with the eagles he is the perfect candidate to represent all the kickers! David dependable Akers #2!!!!!!!!
